Isaac

9 years old

Tetralogy of Fallot

"I wish to have a Husky ride in the Snow at Christmas and see the Northern lights"

Issac, nine, from Devon, is described as kind and sensitive. He is cool and calm, just like his mum’s “perfect pregnancy.” However, during a check-up a heart murmur was identified. This murmur soon became a deafening noise in the family’s life as they were told Isaac had Tetralogy of Fallot - a heart disease. After weeks in hospital preparing Isaac’s body, he had open-heart surgery. But he developed a collapsed lung and his organs started failing. He needed a permanent pacemaker. Now, Isaac has begun to thrive. He’s more than ready for his wish to have a Husky ride in the snow at Christmas and to see the Northern lights - inspired by his obsession with the film The Polar Express. He’s chosen his cabin and even knows which snow boots he wants to wear on his adventure!

Oliver

9 years old

Leukaemia

"I wish to go to Lapland"

Ollie, nine from Derbyshire, is a “proper cheeky chappy with a twinkle in his eye”. He has a love for singing, playing air drums, animals, jigsaws and basketball. Although it seems that Ollie is the one with the bounce-back-ability. Ollie was born with Downs syndrome, and in 2018 he was diagnosed with leukaemia to the floor-hitting shock of his family. Within 24 hours he had his first operation to assess the severity of the cancer. Ollie responded well to intense chemotherapy, but had to go through the gruelling treatment a second time. Consequently, he’s been back to hospital with sepsis, pneumonia and many other infections, but has conquered them every time. His wish is to go to Lapland and meet Santa with the hope of ringing the end of treatment bell with The Man In Red – a gift that will extend beyond Christmas; a sound that will begin Ollie’s future.
